One of our core reasons for being in business is to improve the health of people and the planet.
As part of this, we put a great deal of effort into choosing charitable organizations that meet our standards and objectives, to which we contribute our money and time.
We give at least 10% of our profits to charities, including (but not limited to) the following:

Community Food Security Coalition. They're creating healthy, sustainable, just, democratic food systems. Their main projects involve getting healthy food into schools/colleges and working on federal/local policy.
David Suzuki Foundation. David Suzuki is a hero of ours, and the foundation has a lot of wins on international environmental issues. Climate change/environment are their main areas, but they do a good job integrating their work with economic and community policy.
Farm Sanctuary. They work to end cruel factory farming practices through investigations, public education, legislation, and litigation. We don't agree with all of their positions, but we support their work.
Fruit Tree Planting Foundation. Their ultimate goal is to plant 18 billion fruit trees to alleviate world hunger, combat global warming, strengthen communities, and improve the surrounding air, soil, and water. David Wolfe has a track record of getting things done.
Kitchen Gardeners. They're empowering people around the world to achieve greater levels of food self-reliance through the promotion of kitchen gardening, home-cooking, and sustainable local food systems. They even helped get a kitchen garden at the white house.
Water School. They have a simple, practical and affordable method of improving the quality of water and sanitation practices in the developing world. Their work so far is looking very effective and we think it needs to go further.
